Plot: Over the course of a typical Sunday in August, people from different social backgrounds spend the day, some escaping the city heat and others forced to remain. Among the various protagonists are an unemployed man who becomes a robber and is arrested; a girl and her suitor who discover they are both penniless and not millionaires as they had tried to pretend; a middle-class couple, he a widower and she separated, with Cristina, the man's daughter, to be sent to a summer camp; Luciana, who has argued with her boyfriend Renato, accompanied by her new suitor Roberto; a wealthy woman who discovers her apartment has burned down.
