August Sunday (1950) is a dramatic comedy film directed by Luciano Emmer, starring Marcello Mastroianni.

Set in Rome during a summer day, it tells the stories of various characters heading to the beach, amidst dreams and small daily events.

Between ironic and melancholic moments, the film offers a glimpse into Italian post-war society.

Delicate and realistic, August Sunday is one of the first examples of Italian ensemble cinema.
