Plot: The life of St. Francis is retraced through the memories of Clare and some of his earliest followers. From a dissipated youth to imprisonment in war, which led him to renounce earthly possessions, because after reading the translated Gospel he understood that our lives should be dedicated entirely to God, without worrying about earthly goods but only spiritual ones. Francis asks Pope Innocent III for permission to preach the Christian life, returning to the essentiality of the Gospel, that is, in poverty and in perfect harmony with others and with creation.
