The Messiah (1975) is a historical drama film directed by Roberto Rossellini, starring Pier Maria Rossi as Jesus.
The final film Rossellini made for the cinema retraces the life of Jesus through a sober and rigorous narrative, focusing on his preaching, his relationships with his disciples, and the events leading to the Passion. The director favors an essential and realistic approach, far from traditional spectacular portrayals.
A work of great interest for fans of Roberto Rossellini and Italian historical and religious cinema.
