The Working Class Goes to Heaven (1971) is an intense drama film directed by Elio Petri, starring Gian Maria Volontè and Mariangela Melato, winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
Lulù Massa is a model worker who dedicates all his energy to his job at the factory, until a workplace accident leads him to question the production system and his own beliefs. Amidst union conflicts, alienation, and social tensions, the film offers a powerful reflection on the condition of the working class and the relationship between the individual and labor.
