Plot: Stefano, the son of a successful publisher, fears the superficial and worldly environment his father wants him to grow up in and considers pursuing a religious vocation. During a vacation, his father then arranges an adventure for him with a beautiful girl, thinking this will be enough to correct his excessive idealism. But this first romantic experience does not resolve the young man's problems; he does indeed give up becoming a priest and starts working with his father, but he retains a bitter disgust for the corrupt world around him.
