Plot: A murder is committed in a compartment of the Athens-Thessaloniki express train while it is in a tunnel. The passengers cannot identify the killer because he has extinguished the lights in the carriage. All the police have is the woman's body and a letter opener belonging to an Italian photojournalist, Luciano Morelli. The Greek police confiscate Luciano's passport, believing him guilty of the crime. But Luciano doesn't give up and investigates the people on the train.
